Happy Thanksgiving

It's that time of year when we stop and take time to give thanks for all our blessings.  Every year I give thanks for my clients who give me so much pleasure in what I do.  Thank you for allowing me to serve you.

If you are looking for something to do this Thanksgiving holiday, on the left you will see some links for a Thanksgiving message from me, fun Internet activities and some information on the traditions and history of Thanksgiving.   Enjoy and have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday

Are You Y2K OK?

We are getting closer to that famous day January 1, 2000.   To some people it is just another day like any other.  To the computer world it may or may not be just another day.  No one really knows for sure what will happen on January 1st so the smart thing to do is prepare ourselves.

I am advising anyone who asks to welcome in the millennium as if a snow storm were coming.  Have some extra supplies on hand, expect that the power may go out for a short period of time and prepare yourself accordingly.  Personally, I don't think we will see much disruption in our lives but it is always wise to be prepared just in case.  I have heard that Montgomery County is the best Y2K prepared county in the country.

As far as your computer is concerned I have been updating everyone's computers as I have seen them for the last few months.  Most newer computers will not have any hardware problems at all.  If your computer is more than four years old then the computer itself may not hold the year 2000 correctly.  (See my Winter 98/99 Newsletter for more details.  The link is on the left.)

Regardless of how old your computer is everyone has some minor Y2K issues because they are evident in all versions of Windows, except the latest Windows 98 Second Edition.  (If you would like to know what those issues are see the links on the left.)  I have been performing the necessary Windows update as I have come to see you over the last few months.  If I have not updated your computer and the minor Windows issues will affect you and you don't plan to have me over before the end of the year, then see the links on the left for the issues and the fixes.
